Beginning December 12, San Francisco will be just a simple, non-stop, two-hour flight from magical Sun Valley, Idaho and its world class skiing and winter recreation. United Express flights operated by SkyWest Airlines will begin new daily non-stop seasonal winter and summer service between San Francisco (SFO) and Freidman Memorial Airport in Hailey, ID (SUN)—a 14-mile shuttle ride to Sun Valley.
The new service will run daily from Dec. 12 through March 30 for the 2013-2014 winter season and from July 2-September 23 for the 2014 summer season.
The flight schedule for the upcoming winter ski season is:
* Departs SFO at 10:40am, arrives SUN at 1:22pm
* Departs SUN at 1:57pm, arrives SFO at 2:54pm
San Franciscans will be transported to the splendor of Idaho’s Rocky Mountains where they will find exceptional Nordic and downhill skiing on over 2,000 acres of skiable terrain. Apres-ski, there are numerous galleries and shops to visit and outstanding restaurants throughout Sun Valley and the neighboring towns of Ketchum and Hailey.
Of course, not every Sun Valley recreational activity requires a lift ticket. Try cross-country skiing the Harriman Trail, the staging area for the Boulder Mountain Tour, one of the nation’s preeminent cross-country ski races. Or strap on some snowshoes for a moonlit walk and dinner at one of Galena Lodge’s full moon dinners. Take the family on a heli-skiing adventure in the magnificent Sawtooth Mountain range. Or turn a few circles at the legendary Sun Valley Ice Rink, where you might rub shoulders with Olympic skaters.
For guests staying at the Sun Valley Resort there is an additional benefit: for the upcoming winter season, guests who present their SFO-SUN boarding pass at the Sun Valley ticket window may enjoy a free demo ski/board package or a free morning two hour group lesson the day following arrival. (Some date restrictions apply.)
